  • What is a ThinPrep Test?

In the last few years, an exciting new technology has been developed to help make taking a Pap sample more reliable and to improve its accuracy and precision as a test. This new methodology involves the collection of the cervical/endocervical sample that your doctor takes into a liquid, instead of by smearing it on a slide to dry. The sample liquid is then processed, which cleans up the specimen, and deposits a very thin layer of cells on to the slide. For an in depth look at the ThinPrep follow the link to the company "Cytyc Corporation", which makes the test, at www.thinprep.com.
